About
In The Parlor is an exploration of modern domesticity. We move by the seasons, creating new recipes, cultivating our homes, and reimagining traditions for the lives we live today. Our idea of ‘domestic’ is not tied to an age, gender, or family structure, but to the belief that life at home is central to well-being. We exist to help others create a life at home that is beautiful, enjoyable, and within their means. We focus less on decor and more on patterns of life. We serve a generation who are, in large part, living their adulthood in unexpected ways — sometimes single, child-free, or adjusting to big life changes. We are redefining what it means to be a homemaker, broadening that role to anyone who brings intentionality and purpose into domestic life. In doing so, we hope to help our community see their homes as precious spaces for connection, restoration, and a more abundant life.
Design
In this space, we explore home objects and the things we fill our spaces with. In the kitchen, it’s about genuine utility and re-opening our minds to mechanical tools that are equally efficient, but more tactile and nostalgic. When it comes to appliances, we lean into anything that will help us nourish better — with vegetables or produce or to feed a larger family. In the bedroom and comfy spaces, we take an interest in materials and how they work best for seasonal conditions. We provide clarity around the age old traditions of switching linens in summer to help our community understand and prioritize their buying choices. For common areas, like the living room and sitting rooms, we talk about arrangements, wall treatments, and furniture in a more personal and narrative way. We try to create a unique and intentional process around making those decisions so that our community is empowered to decorate without weighing their lives down or following trends they will later grow bored with. We don’t encourage our community to buy things, but to invest in a life that will make them happy, using the right kind of objects that work and align with who they are.
